Course Overview — Team Leadership and Supervision
Taking responsibility for other people’s work changes what is expected of you. You may still have tasks of your own, but now you also need to give direction, check progress and address concerns with people you have worked beside for years. A missed commitment or unclear instruction can become yours to resolve, even when you do not have authority to change the deadline or provide the extra resources. You want to lead in a way people can respect and rely on. That means setting expectations, supporting others to contribute and knowing when to step in or seek help. Whether you are preparing for your first supervisory role or already leading a team, finding that balance matters when daily delivery keeps drawing you back into the work. Team Leadership and Supervision is a professional development program for emerging and current team leaders, supervisors and leading hands who want to strengthen how they guide people and coordinate everyday work. It develops practical capability in priorities, emotional intelligence, communication and leadership behaviour, alongside cooperation, team performance, continuous improvement, operational delivery, meetings and workplace projects. The twelve connected modules help you bring these responsibilities together. You will explore how to make expectations clear, support shared responsibility and follow through when work or behaviour needs attention. The program connects your development with the decisions, conversations and commitments that come with supervising others, including recognising when an issue needs your manager’s support.

Why choose this program?

Through practical learning and individual coaching, this program helps you:

✔  Turn your learning into action with individual coaching

‍You’ll receive six one-hour individual coaching sessions to connect what you’re learning with your own workplace challenges and professional goals. Ask questions, explore situations you’re dealing with and get guidance on practical next steps. This dedicated time helps you move beyond understanding the concepts to deciding how to use them in your work.

✔ Make the move from capable team member to dependable leader

Leading people you previously worked beside can change conversations that once felt straightforward. You now need to give direction, address missed expectations and explain decisions while maintaining respectful relationships. Develop your understanding of what the leadership role requires and how your everyday actions shape the standards others are asked to follow. Build an approach that helps you take responsibility without assuming you need every answer.

✔ Give the team direction without carrying every task yourself

Stepping back into a task can seem quicker when time is short, but repeated rescue work can leave your own responsibilities waiting. Learn to agree outcomes, clarify individual contributions and coordinate the work people share. Check progress and provide support where it is needed, so delivery depends on understood responsibilities and follow-through across the team.

✔  Handle the conversations that cannot keep waiting

An unclear instruction, a missed commitment or an unresolved disagreement can affect more than one person’s work. Develop your ability to explain what is needed, listen to concerns and respond deliberately under pressure. Confirm the next step and recognise when further information or management support is required, so the conversation has a useful purpose beyond raising the issue.

✔  Keep your own commitments visible while supporting others

A busy day can be filled with interruptions while important supervisory work remains unfinished. Learn to assess competing demands, plan around routine responsibilities and recognise when a commitment needs to be renegotiated. Give yourself a clearer view of what is due, what others depend on and which priority decisions need agreement from your manager.

✔  Help the team change the problems that keep returning

Repeated corrections, duplicated work and awkward handovers can gradually become accepted parts of the job. Develop ways to gather the team’s experience, examine what is causing the difficulty and choose a practical improvement. Follow the change through and check its effects, so the effort people invest has a clear connection to better ways of working.

✔  Strengthen the leadership people experience every day

Your team learns about expectations through how you respond, make decisions and keep commitments. Develop the ability to review your own conduct, use feedback and apply workplace standards consistently. For current supervisors, this provides an opportunity to examine habits that may be making the work harder. For emerging leaders, it helps you prepare for the responsibility of setting direction and supporting others.

Our trainers and assessors delivering BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership andManagement are fully qualified to deliver and assess nationally recognised training. Your trainer holds the mandatory requirement of Certificate IV in Training andAssessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) and completes ongoing professional development to stay current. Many also bring university qualifications and advanced diplomas that strengthen their adult education capability and business-industry expertise. For you, that means your trainer understands how adults learn, how to assess fairly, and how to make sure your learning and assessment meets national standards—so you know you’re being supported and assessed the right way.

What makes this course powerful is that your trainers don’t just teach leadership—they’ve applied it in real workplaces where outcomes matter. Across the team, there’s experience leading and supporting others, coaching and mentoring people to lift performance, managing competing priorities, and driving practical improvements through clearer communication, better ways of working, and stronger team routines. That directly supports what this qualification is about: building practical skills in leadership, team management, communication, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, workplace relationships, continuous improvement, operational planning, and project work.

How much does the program cost?

Normally $2200 in total. The program is currently priced at $999 for a limited time, this includes a deposit of $250.00. We accept payment plans, with the current price at $15.61/wk. Each program we offer comes with a cooling off period, see T&C for more information.

How long will the program take?

A new module becomes available every two weeks.
