Through practical learning and individual coaching, this program helps you:
You’ll receive six one-hour individual coaching sessions to connect what you’re learning with your own workplace challenges and professional goals. Ask questions, explore situations you’re dealing with and get guidance on practical next steps. This dedicated time helps you move beyond understanding the concepts to deciding how to use them in your work.
A decision that solves a problem in your area can create extra work, costs or delays elsewhere. Develop your ability to consider how activities connect and what others depend on before making a commitment. This helps you explain your recommendations, recognise competing needs and coordinate decisions with the people affected, particularly as your responsibilities extend across more of the business.
When every request is urgent, people can stay busy without making enough progress on agreed business goals. Learn to connect priorities with activities, responsibilities and the resources needed to complete them. Identify where capacity is missing, discuss realistic alternatives and seek decisions before the gap becomes a missed commitment. Give the people doing the work a plan they can understand and use.
Correcting a task yourself can seem quicker when a deadline is close, but the same concern can return if expectations or support remain unclear. Connect work allocation, feedback and development so people understand what they need to deliver. Help them examine information and bring considered recommendations, while keeping decision limits clear and addressing performance concerns through appropriate workplace processes.
A late update or incomplete handover can leave you chasing information between people who each believe they have finished their part. Develop your approach to working relationships, communication and meetings so responsibilities and decisions reach the right people. Make shared expectations easier to follow and address disagreements before they keep interrupting delivery.
You may be expected to maintain service and meet targets while staffing, equipment or funding is limited. Strengthen your ability to identify what the work requires, interpret financial information and assess the consequences of different choices. Explain resource gaps and proposed spending with reference to business priorities, available capacity and approval limits, so the decision has a useful basis.
Repeated complaints, avoidable corrections and workarounds can gradually become part of the normal workload. Learn to examine the arrangements behind those problems, including unclear standards, weak handovers and gaps in support. Use feedback, performance information and risk review to decide what needs attention and check whether agreed changes are helping.
As your role expands, you may be asked to handle people, resources or financial decisions you have not previously owned. This program helps you prepare for those expectations while giving experienced professionals an opportunity to review established ways of working. Connect your development with the responsibilities you carry now and identify where further learning or support would help you take the next step.
This program suits people coordinating business activities, supporting teams or managing day-to-day operations. It also suits experienced employees preparing for wider responsibility across a team, service or business function.
It is particularly relevant if your role has expanded beyond your original tasks and you now coordinate colleagues, resolve operational issues or help different parts of the business work together.
Relevant roles include:
For people already carrying these responsibilities, the program provides an opportunity to review their approach and strengthen areas that need more attention.
Our trainers and assessors delivering BSB50120 Diploma of Business are fully qualified to deliver and assess nationally recognised training. Your trainer holds the mandatory requirement of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) and completes ongoing professional development to stay current. Many also bring university qualifications and advanced diplomas that strengthen their adult education capability and business-industry expertise. For you, that means your trainer understands how adults learn, how to assess fairly, and how to make sure your learning and assessment meets national standards—so you know you’re being supported and assessed the right way.
For the BSB50120 Diploma of Business, your trainers bring the kind of real-world experience that makes business learning feel practical, and relevant. They’ve worked across complex workplace environments where people are accountable for outcomes—planning work, improving operations, coordinating projects, working with stakeholders, and managing resources and budgets—so they can show you how decisions get made when it actually matters. That experience aligns directly to what this course is designed to build: stronger capability in business planning, operations, and critical thinking, supported by practical leadership skills such as leading communication, managing workplace relationships, building operational plans, and managing budgets and financial plans—so you’re developing the skills to contribute at a higher level in a real business environment.

This gives you plenty of flexibility to take additional time when needed, revisit earlier modules and work through the program around your other commitments.
